Daniel C. Sikazwe is a Zambian Journalist with a passion and commitment to environment and sustainable development, human rights and freedom of expression. He has been an environmental journalist since 1997. He has previously worked as a journalist for the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC). Through the years his environmental journalism work has seen him become a major writer and producer for World Radio for the Environment, based in Sussex, the United Kingdom, New Agriculturist, also in the UK, Ground up Magazine and several media institutions. In the last five years he has written extensively about the extractive industry in Zambia and Africa as a whole. Sikazwe is also involved in campaign journalism on food sovereignty and farmers rights across the globe His human and people’s rights work on food sovereignty, extractive industries and freedom of expression means he spends lots of time and energies working with institutions like The African Court of Human and Peoples’ Rights and the United Nation’s Commission for Human Rights. For nearly a decade Sikazwe has been teaching journalism at the Zambia Institute of Mass Communication (ZAMCOM). He also writes feature articles on a diversity of topics that touch on the human condition for the Zambia Daily Mail.
