Dr. Julian Hilton

Dr. Julian Hilton is Chairman of the Aleff Group which he co-founded with Dr. Malika Moussaid in 1992. He currently leads Aleff Group activities across a range of industries, including both minerals and oil and gas and has worked in both the commercial and government sectors on a range of projects throughout the Africa region since the 1980s. A current focus is on safe, beneficial valorisation and use of secondary resources such as mine tailings and processing residues, within a circular economy. He is currently Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Delivery Working Group of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and since 2018 he has been Technical Advisor to the AMREC resource classification and management project and a member of the AMREC development team. He has more than twenty years’ experience as expert of the International Atomic Energy Agency, completing a wide range of missions in Africa. He also has wider experience in the Africa region since the early 1980s working with the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization on high impact diseases affecting both human and animal health, such as malaria, Rinderpest and foot-and-mouth. He is a frequent speaker at international meetings and online events and is widely published.
